Floor Cleaning Shortcuts To Avoid

If you are a business owner with a large warehouse or factory, you will know that floor cleaning of industrial and commercial spaces is of utmost importance.

Floor cleaning is especially important if you are operating in the food and beverage industry. In order to keep floors clean, safe, and hygienic; the job should be completed correctly with efficient floor cleaning methods.

Taking shortcuts is something that might seem tempting in order to save time and money but should be actively avoided. At SRS Cleaning Equipment, we are aware of the floor cleaning shortcuts that businesses take that they really shouldn’t.

Avoiding sweeping before cleaning

More often than you might think, businesses go straight into scrubbing and mopping floors before they’ve been adequately swept clean of debris and dirt. By skipping the step of sweeping, it means that the floors will not be thoroughly cleaned.

To ensure dirt and debris is eradicated before cleaning, we offer a wide range of walk behind and ride on floor sweepers to make the job easier.

Mopping floors is a tedious and time-consuming task and generally won’t pick up all of the floor debris that is present, instead it will more than likely just spread it around. Sometimes spreading debris around can also harm the floor’s surface.

Skipping disinfection

In addition to sweeping your industrial floors sufficiently before cleaning, your floor cleaning process should also include through disinfecting. Failure to add disinfection to your cleaning regime will give the appearance of clean floors but may not be very hygienic at all.

The process of disinfection is essential because it kills germs and bacteria to ensure your commercial floors are safe and as hygienic as possible.

Getting impatient with drying floors

Even though time may be precious when it comes to running your business, it is important to stay patient and never attempt to vacuum a floor space that is still damp. This will not only prove ineffective but it could result in damage to your vacuum cleaner or even worse.

Failure to maintain floor cleaning equipment

Maintaining the equipment that is cleaning your floors is just as important as any part of the cleaning process. If you fail to look after your warehouse floor cleaning machine it will lose its effectiveness and start to underperform.

If you are extremely negligent with your cleaning equipment, it may even be possible that your floor sweeper or floor scrubber may break down completely. After all, the cleanliness of your industrial space relies on the quality of the floor cleaning equipment in use.

Using too many chemicals

When attempting to clean a particularly dirty floor space, it might seem tempting to use more floor cleaning chemicals than necessary. Plus, mixing chemicals can be dangerous and could cause a reaction and lead to damaged floors.

Not cleaning floors daily

No matter what type of business you operate, industrial or commercial floors should be cleaned daily if possible. If this is not doable, floors should at least be swept every day to prevent the accumulation of dangerous dirt and debris.

At SRS Cleaning Equipment, we supply warehouses, factories, and construction sites throughout the UK with heavy-duty ride-on sweepers and scrubbers through our short term and long term (Flexi-Hire) fleet.
